Flowers for Algernon

Book Cover Design | Layout Design | Illustration

If you’ve never read Flowers for Algernon, the main character, Charlie, is born with an unusually low IQ. He befriends a lab mouse named Algernon undergoing the same neurosurgery that he will be. Over time, Algernon’s IQ increases as does Charlie’s. Suddenly Algernon begins to rapidly decline and Charlie begins to notice the same happening to him.

To create the sense of struggle and frustration that having a sudden awareness of a disability might be, I used my non-dominant hand to write out the title.
